On September 15, the launch ceremony of the 2026 “Overseas Chinese Love · Brightness Action” public-welfare program in Uzbekistan, together with the donation ceremony of the mobile medical surgical vehicle, was held in Tashkent. The mobile medical surgical vehicle, donated by the Overseas Chinese Charity Foundation of China and manufactured by Weihai Guangtai Medical Technology Co., Ltd., was delivered to the Uzbekistan National Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Cardiology. During the event, the Chinese medical team performed free sight-restoring cataract surgeries for 181 local patients. Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan Yu Jun, Uzbek Deputy Minister of Health Elmira Basitkhanova, and Yin Yuanyuan, Chairperson of the Overseas Chinese Charity Foundation of China, among others, attended the ceremony.

According to Fozilov, director of the center, most cardiac surgeries in Uzbekistan must be performed in the capital, and patients in remote areas often see treatment delayed due to poor transport. Once the mobile surgical vehicle is put into use, it will bring professional diagnosis and treatment to patients’ doorsteps. A team of specialists from Yunnan Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital has already performed surgery on board the vehicle for local children with congenital heart disease.

Ambassador Yu Jun said that the Chinese medical team traveled to the Syrdarya Region to perform free cataract surgeries for local patients, which not only solved their practical difficulties but also reflected the people-centered value and warmth of medical services. The donation of the mobile medical vehicle will help patients whose treatment has been delayed achieve early detection and early intervention. China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to expand medical and health cooperation and build a “Health Silk Road”.

Deputy Minister of Health Elmira Basitkhanova thanked China’s public-welfare forces for their strong support in Uzbekistan’s health sector. Since 2019, Chinese ophthalmologists have completed more than 2,000 cataract surgeries in Uzbekistan. This donation will benefit patients in remote areas, and the cooperation between Chinese and Uzbek medical and nursing teams is also a valuable opportunity for learning and exchange.

Yin Yuanyuan, Chairperson of the Foundation, said that the Foundation has continuously sent outstanding medical personnel to Uzbekistan, and that Chinese and Uzbek medical workers have improved their skills together through exchange and mutual learning, not only bringing light to patients with eye diseases but also forging sincere friendship. This surgical vehicle, transported thousands of kilometers from Weihai to Tashkent, will become a “mobile ambassador of friendship” for China–Uzbekistan medical cooperation, safeguarding the health of young patients in remote areas.

This delivery marks the first time Guangtai Medical’s mobile surgical vehicles have entered the Central Asian market, following their presence in Africa, Southeast Asia and other Belt and Road countries. From the African continent to Southeast Asian islands and the heart of Central Asia, the footprint of the mobile surgical vehicles keeps extending along the Belt and Road. Going forward, Guangtai Medical will continue to deliver quality mobile medical equipment to where it is needed through innovative technology and services, contributing more Chinese strength to the building of a “Health Silk Road”.
