A Mobile Operating Room on the China-Cambodia Health Silk Road: Guangtai Medical Supports the "Silk Road Hearts Connected" Public Health Free Clinic!

Guangtai Medical's mobile surgical vehicles are bringing healthcare to places that need it most — from Africa to South Asia, and now to Southeast Asia. These vehicles go where hospitals can't reach, making quality care more available.

Guangtai Mobile Surgical Vehicle in Cambodia

In Cambodia, a Guangtai Medical mobile surgical vehicle was invited back to join the "Silk Road Hearts Connected" free clinic program. It has visited schools in Phnom Penh, Kampot Province, and remote villages in Prey Veng Province, working with Chinese and Cambodian medical teams to screen children for congenital heart disease. The vehicle serves as a stable, dependable mobile medical platform for local communities.

We want to thank everyone who made this possible: the CARE FOR LIFE FOUNDATION, the China NGO Network for International Exchanges, Fuwai Yunnan Cardiovascular Hospital, the Peaceland Foundation, the Cambodia-China Friendship Association, the Ministry of Health of Cambodia, the Cambodian Chinese Evolution Researcher Association, Preah Ket Mealea Hospital, and all the organizations and medical workers on the ground. It takes many hands working together to bring healthcare where it's truly needed, and this effort adds a meaningful chapter to China-Cambodia friendship and humanitarian cooperation.

Since arriving in Cambodia in 2025, this mobile surgical vehicle has been part of one cross-border mission after another.

On December 20, 2025, it went to Krom Cambodia-China Friendship Primary School in Phnom Penh and screened 246 students. On March 20, 2026, it visited the Royal Arts High School in Phnom Penh and screened 730 students. The vehicle's flexibility means health checks can happen right on school grounds, close to the people who need them.

From April 2 to 3, 2026, the Peaceland Foundation worked with the Cambodian Chinese Evolution Researcher Association, along with 30 doctors from Cambodia's Ministry of Health and the Mekong Institute (covering China, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar), plus 7 heart specialists from Fuwai Yunnan Cardiovascular Hospital. Together they ran screenings across 17 schools in Kampot Province, checking 6,381 students in just two days.

On May 19, 2026, the vehicle went to Dongspu Village, Babun District, Prey Veng Province. Working with doctors from Preah Ket Mealea Hospital, the Peaceland Foundation checked over 1,200 students from four schools in a single day. The local district governor, village chief, and county health director were there the whole time, and an ambulance with five local doctors supported the work on site.

As of May 21, 2026, over 8,500 Cambodian children have received free heart screenings through this program. Each number represents a child reached, a community served.

In the field, the Guangtai Mobile Surgical Vehicle handles Cambodia's hot, humid weather without trouble. Its chassis can handle rough roads to reach distant villages. Inside, the clean, well-designed space gives medical teams what they need for screenings, diagnosis, and basic procedures. Equipment can be swapped in depending on what's needed.
